REGO Process

The following document provides an end-to-end system description on the ingestion and processing of Data in support of the PATtech REGO platform.
Data Ingestion & Validation Layer
Metering data for New Zealand generation assets is ingested automatically straight from EM6 data via our data lake. The process captures the precise Trading Date, Trading Period (TP), Node Name (Station), and the verified Volume in MWh. This ensures the data entering the platform perfectly mirrors the grid registry metrics.
Sub-Grid or Embedded network generation is ingested via Smart meter exports using .CSV or API connections.
PATtech does not rely on manual data entry for electricity generation.
Certificate Issuance
Consumer data is ingested from Smart meter files (.CSV or API) on submission of ICPs by the Consumer, or on behalf by the Energy retailer.
When ingested into the platform, the matching engine pairs the consumption requirements against the available Generation. The matching algorithm will only match what is available from the generator. If there is unsatisfied volume the consumer can resubmit a request to other generators for any balance. Once issued the available generation is then blocked from being issued as REGOs for any other consumers
Upon a successful match, a REGO certificate is issued and transferred to the consumer wallet., for retirement and Scope 2 reporting
Cryptographic Verification & Chain of Custody
To guarantee an immutable chain of custody, the platform leverages cryptographic tracing for each certificate:
When consumption data is ingested, the system generates a unique SHA-256 cryptographic hash of the raw consumption parameters (Date, Trading Period, Volume, etc). This hash is permanently attached to the issued certificate.
The issued REGO retains an unbreakable database relationship to matched consumption. This means any issued REGOs can be deterministically traced backward through the PATtech system's Audit Trail log to the exact point of generation, revealing the original Generation Asset Date, Trading Period, and MWh amount.
