What Is It

PATtech Renewable Energy Platform
This document describes how PATtech tracks, matches, and evidences renewable electricity usage and emissions claims at an hourly level, designed for generators, auditors, sustainability teams, and energy market participants.
Executive Summary
PATtech is a renewable energy technology platform that enables organisations to substantiate renewable electricity and emissions claims with the rigour expected by auditors, regulators, and sustainability frameworks. The platform combines metered consumption data, generation data through renewable energy guarantee of origin (REGO), including ownership and retirement records, emissions factors, and tamper-evident audit logs into a single, time-stamped evidentiary record.
Consumption and generation are reconciled per settlement period, not aggregated annually, supporting 24/7 matching claims.
Every certificate, retirement, and matching event is linked to immutable logs, source files, and approval metadata.
From generator output to retired certificate to consumer claim, each MWh is traceable to source, time, and counterparty.
Suitable for reasonable assurance engagements, with read-only access for assurance providers on request.

Claim Types Supported
PATtech is designed to evidence claims across the spectrum of renewable electricity reporting obligations and voluntary commitments. Each claim type is supported by a defined evidence set and a documented calculation methodology.
Substantiates that a defined volume of consumed electricity is sourced from renewable generation. Supports voluntary corporate renewable claims aligned with widely used sustainability disclosure frameworks.
Demonstrates time-coincident matching of consumption to renewable generation in each settlement period, including matched MWh, residual MWh, and an hourly match percentage.
Each MWh of claimed renewable consumption is backed by a uniquely identified, eligible REGO. Chain-of-custody from issuance through to retirement is preserved.
Produces market-based and location-based Scope 2 emissions outputs derived from matched consumption, residual mix, and jurisdictional emissions factors with a documented basis.
Records formal retirement of REGOs against a specified beneficiary and reporting period, preventing double-claim and supporting registry reconciliation.
Maintains a verifiable link between claimed MWh and the originating generator, technology, commissioning date, and supplier, supporting additionality and provenance disclosures.
Claim Certification Framework
Every PATtech certified claim is produced through a controlled, repeatable seven-stage process. Each stage transforms upstream inputs into evidenced outputs, with validations and audit logs captured at every transition.
Half-hourly metered loads
Asset-level renewable output
Time-coincident pairing
Against matched MWh
Market & location-based
Tamper-evident logs
Certified, period-bound output

Claim summary, matched MWh, retired REGOs, emissions result, evidence appendices , all referenced to source data through tamper-evident logs.
Evidence Included in a Claim Pack
Each customer-specific claim pack issued by PATtech contains a defined evidence set sufficient for internal review and external assurance. The contents are produced from controlled platform data and are uniquely identified to the reporting entity and period.
- Reporting entity, beneficiary, and period boundary
- Hourly consumption record (MWh per settlement period)
- Hourly generation record by asset and technology
- Matched MWh and residual MWh per period
- List of REGOs retired with unique identifiers
- REGO retirement confirmations and timestamps
- Scope 2 emissions output (market and location-based)
- Methodology version applied during the period
- Emissions factor sources and effective dates
- Generator details, technology, and commissioning data
- Counterparty and supplier reference records
- Data ingestion logs, file hashes, and ingestion times
- Reconciliation notes and exception register (if any)
Evidence Integrity
The evidence pack is generated from a single source of record. Each artefact references the underlying immutable transaction log, allowing any value in the pack to be traced back to its originating data point, the user who performed any action, and the time the event occurred.
Formal Certification Statement
The following template is issued for each customer claim pack. It records the entity, period, matched volumes, retired certificates, emissions outcome, and the individuals responsible for preparation and approval.
Example Customer Claim Statements
The following statements illustrate the form of language a reporting entity may use in sustainability disclosures, procurement communications, or board-level reporting once a claim has been certified by PATtech. Wording should be adapted to the relevant disclosure framework.
“During the 2025 reporting period, 87.4% of AAA Logistics Ltd’s 12,480.50 MWh electricity consumption was matched on an hourly basis to renewable generation backed by retired REGOs, evidenced by PATtech.”
— Use case: voluntary renewable electricity claim with hourly granularity“AAA Logistics Ltd achieved an hourly renewable energy match of 87.4% during the 2025 reporting period, calculated by PATtech using time-coincident generation and consumption data across all NZ operating sites.”
— Use case: 24/renewable electricity disclosure“All renewable claims for the 2025 reporting period are supported by 10,907 uniquely identified REGO certificates retired against AAA Logistics Ltd in the PATtech REGO registry, as recorded in the PATtech evidence pack issued on 14 March 2026.”
— Use case: chain-of-custody and double-claim avoidance disclosure“Scope 2 market-based emissions for the 2025 reporting period are calculated by PATtech as 462.10 tCO₂e, reflecting the residual mix applied to 1,573.30 MWh of unmatched consumption.”
— Use case: greenhouse gas inventory note“Renewable generation supplied to AAA Logistics Ltd is traceable to five named generators across onshore wind, solar, hydro, and geothermal technologies, including commissioning date and supplier, as recorded in the PATtech platform.”
— Use case: provenance and additionality narrative

Methodology Overview
PATtech applies a documented, deterministic methodology to produce certified claims. The methodology version applicable to each claim is recorded in the corresponding evidence pack.
Establish the reporting entity, sites, supply points, and reporting period
Half-hourly metered consumption is ingested from approved sources, validated for completeness, and reconciled against billed totals where applicable
Asset-level renewable generation is ingested per interval and validated against issued REGO volumes for the same period
For each period, eligible generation is matched to consumption using documented allocation rules, producing matched MWh, residual MWh, and a match percentage
REGOs are allocated to matched MWh and retired in the registry against the reporting entity for the reporting period
Scope 2 market-based emissions are calculated using matched MWh, residual mix factors, and supplier-specific factors where available. Location-based emissions are reported in parallel
Outputs are compiled into a customer-specific evidence pack and accompanied by the formal certification statement
Controls & Data Integrity
PATtech operates a layered control environment covering data ingestion, processing, storage, and disclosure. Controls are designed to ensure that certified claims are accurate, complete, and tamper-evident.
| CONTROL DOMAIN | CONTROL OBJECTIVE | HOW PATTECH DELIVERS IT |
|---|---|---|
| Data ingestion | Inputs are complete, accurate, and from approved sources. | Validated upload pipelines, source-file hashing, and reconciliation reports against billed totals. |
| Calculation logic | Matching and emissions calculations are deterministic and version-controlled. | Code-managed methodology with explicit version tagging on each claim output. |
| REGO management | Each REGO is allocated and retired exactly once, against the correct entity. | Registry-aware retirement workflow with confirmation receipts and double-claim prevention. |
| Access control | Only authorised users can ingest data, approve, or retire certificates. | Role-based permissions, approval workflows, and per-action audit logging. |
| Audit logging | All material actions are recorded with user, timestamp, and source reference. | Append-only log linked to data records; signed exports for assurance providers. |
| Change management | Methodology and factor changes are tracked and applied consistently. | Versioned methodology releases with effective dates recorded against each claim. |
| Disclosure integrity | Issued claim packs cannot be altered without traceable re-issue. | Sealed evidence packs identified by version and reissuance reason where applicable. |
Tamper evidence
Source files, computed values, and approvals are linked through cryptographic references so that any change is detectable.
